Sunday with My Two Girls

Last Sunday, my hubby and I stayed at home for the two girls. No, I don’t have babies but these two daughters of mine are my pet dog and parrot, Gigi and Becki. We treat them like our own daughters. I believe we’ll continue to treat them as good as now even when we’ve our own babies. Our goals that Sunday were to give Becki a shower and make her a new perch.

This is Becki getting out from the cage

First time on blogspot, so Becki says: Hi!

This is the daughters’ mum >_< Eating oranges before doing her job
Gigi’s wondering if mummy could share with her
Mummy: No way! You’ve your own food. Later mummy gives biscuits.

While everyone’s attentions were on Becki, Gigi was jealous. As usual, she would go to a corner and keep a jealous eye over us from far. This is her! She’s rather cute behaving like that.

As soon as we’re done with showering Becki and let Becki be on her own, Gigi’s back to being a happy girl, giving us her biggest smile.

We noticed the flight feathers on Becki’s wings had grown so much when she flipped her wings during the shower. So, it’s time to have them clipped so that she won’t fly away. Clipping her feathers is not cruel but of love. Becki was hand-fed by us when she was still a baby so she will not possibly survive on her own if she flies away. We only cut adequate feathers to prevent her from flying away. So, she still have sufficient feathers to land herself properly in the event that she falls from her perch.

Before the invention of pens, people write with quill feathers. I’ll have a lot if I lived in the olden days :p

Becki after shower, the grey is so grey and the red is so red. I mean the colors of the feathers were so dull before the shower, hehe

Taking care of pets are not easy. You need to devote some of your time to them. Be prepared to spend time taking good care of them including grooming, feeding, cleaning their poops, playing with them and etc. We’ve family and our circle of friends but in their world, they have only us.
